A New Beningin

Writing this, feels... surreal. The first post on a new blog. I've written quite a few times in the past but that was so long ago! Oh well, I've been wanting to do this again for a while now; to have a place to jot down my thoughts, share my experiences, and hopefully build a couple of dedicated fans inspire others along the way.

This year, ironically, marks a significant milestone – I'm turning a big age! 😅 If not this year, then when next could I be this dramatic? Anyway, I will be embracing this new chapter with a sense of excitement and purpose.

I'm committing to a few personal and professional goals this year. Professionally, AI and ML are all the buzz and I'm definitely going to get into it, somehow. Other than that, I'll be diving into the deep ends of NodeJS and Go since I find myself using them quite a bit. Almost all my favourite DevOps tools are built in Go – it would be fun to contribute to them in one way or another.

I would say my biggest goal for the year is to land a remote position. I've been looking at my lifestyle lately, neh? I was made for remote work, and remote work was made for me. 💀 Jokes aside, I truly believe this will not only enhance my work-life balance but also open doors to new and exciting opportunities. I mean, I am a global talent, am I not?

Beyond my professional aspirations, I'm feeling quite bullish about my personal goals. For starters, I want to improve my command of Kiswahili. It's such a beautiful language and I want to be able to speak it much more fluently by the end of the year. Honorable mentions include playing lawn tennis again, getting back to my shirtless and human flag era, and consistently writing and sharing my thoughts and experiences more often (just like this)! Also, the projects you see in my portfolio? I need to ship!

Finally, I'm heavily prioritizing my financial well-being this year. I have a few friends that are holding me accountable for this, and I'm bringing along two more people close to me this time around. I'm excited to see what we can achieve by this time next year!
